Position Summary

Nuclear Medicine Technologist

 

We are looking for a dynamic Nuclear Medicine Tech to join our new Nuclear Medicine department at FirstHealth of the Carolinas- Richmond campus. This Full Time, Day Shift position.  NO WEEKENDS, NIGHTS or HOLIDAYS.

If you are eager to enhance your clinical skills with a variety of Nuclear Medicine studies and work with a varied patient population, this may be the position for you.

Responsibilities

  • Must be Nuclear Medicine registered either through NMTCB or ARRT
  • BCLS required
  • Has training in NM studies such as Nuclear Stress Test, Bone Scans, HIDA Scans, Lung scans, Thyroid Scans, Liver Scans, and Brain Scans
  • Prepares facilities in accordance with procedural requirements; calibrates equipment as required by the institution.
  • Calculate, measure and record radiation dosage or radiopharmaceuticals received, used and disposed, using computer and following physician’s prescription.
  • Preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals orally or by injection or inhalation.
  • Starts patient IV's.
  • Explaining the imaging procedure to patients, answering questions, and ensuring their comfort while placing them in the appropriate position for scanning.
  • Accomplish computer processing and imaging enhancement.
  • Provides images, data analysis, and patient information to the physician for diagnostic interpretation.
  • Monitoring the departments daily, monthly, and quarterly QC under the guidelines of the NRC.

Qualifications

  • Education and Certification:
    • Must be registered in Nuclear Medicine through NMTCB or ARRT.
    • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
  • Experience:
    • Training and experience in conducting various NM studies, including Nuclear Stress Tests, Bone Scans, HIDA Scans, Lung Scans, Thyroid Scans, Liver Scans, and Brain Scans.
  • Skills:
    • Strong technical skills in preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals and operating NM equipment.
    • Excellent patient care skills, including the ability to explain procedures and ensure patient comfort.
    • Proficiency in computer processing and imaging enhancement.
    • Ability to monitor and maintain quality control standards.
    • Exceptional customer service, communication, and teamwork skills.
