Join the dedicated team at FirstHealth of the Carolinas - Montgomery Memorial Hospital as an Occupational Therapist (Acute Care). In this role, you will specialize in stabilizing patients, assisting with mobilization, implementing therapeutic interventions, and establishing discharge plans. You will collaborate with other healthcare professionals to create personalized treatment plans aimed at improving patients' ability to handle everyday activities. This position is primarily dedicated to inpatient care, with about 30% of your time spent on outpatient care. Responsibilities

  • Assess Patient Conditions: Evaluate patients' conditions and care needs to develop effective treatment plans.
  • Develop Treatment Schedules: Create and implement treatment schedules focused on patients' specific needs and goals.
  • Evaluate Environments: Assess patients' home and other environments, proposing changes to enhance autonomy and safety.
  • Teach Equipment Use: Instruct patients on the use of specific equipment to aid in their recovery and daily activities.
  • Document Progress: Measure and document patients' progress for assessments, billing, and reporting purposes.
  • Collaborate with Healthcare Professionals: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Outline Steps for Continued Care: Provide guidance on continued therapy, home exercises, and adaptive techniques for daily activities.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to ensure clear collaboration with patients and caregivers.
  • Empathy and Compassion: Essential qualities for understanding and supporting patients' needs.
  • Resilience and Attention to Detail: Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
