Position Summary

  1. Able scrub variety of services and case/procedures
  2. Able to lift, transport patients, supplies and equipment.
  3. Demonstrates manual dexterity, hearing acuity, and verbal ability.
  4. Displays ability for standing long periods of time, walking, lifting, bending, and stooping for much of the workday.
  5. Has efficient endurance to perform tasks over long periods of time.
  6. Involves exposure to blood/body fluids, hazardous materials and communicable diseases.
  7. Participates in creating a safety culture by always optimizing safety.
  8. Able to deal with frustration and stress appropriately.
  9. Able to communicate effectively and professionally with other staff, physicians and shift supervisor.
  10. Able to work weekends, holidays, and shift rotations as needed.
  • Considered critical services during inclement weather and disasters.
  • Available for call rotation as needed.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Communicates effectively with a wide range of age groups, ethic, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  2. Displays effective organizational skills, with ability to prioritize accurately and quickly. Illustrates computer skills within service provided.
  3. Maintains clinical and professional competency levels required of age-specific populations, to include all aspects of surgical technology in the perioperative care 
  4. The Surgical Technologist are not permitted to perform activities of a first assistant, which include independent tissue manipulation and/ or handling, cutting, ligating, and/or dissecting tissue, providing hemostasis, and/or suturing.

Qualifications

Education/formal training/licensure/certification experience:

  1. Graduate of a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technology*OR* Graduate of a training program for surgical technology in the United States Army, Navy, or Air Force *And* Obtain an accredited surgical technologist certification credential during the 12-month period that immediately follows the successful completion of a surgical technology program and maintain certification to maintain employment as a surgical technologist.
  1. BCLS required.
