Position Summary

Pulmonary Rehab. Specialist

Responsibilities

 

  • Displays effective communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.  

  • Demonstrates effective problem-solving skills and has the ability to develop critical thinking skills. 

  • Possesses leadership, collaboration skills, as well as knowledge of Respiratory treatment trends for the population served.  

  • Maintains a commitment to customer satisfaction for all customers including patients, co-workers, physicians, the community, and others inside and outside the organization. 

 

Position Specific  

 

 

  • Uses outpatient Pulmonary Rehabilitation individual treatment plans (ITP) in a problem-solving approach to formulate an appropriate plan of care. 

  • Provides services with consideration of the physical, psychosocial, cultural/ spiritual and age specific needs of those served within the healthcare system. 

  • Demonstrates appropriate use of equipment/supplies. 

  • Uses appropriate safety and infection control measures. 

  • Teaches/directs/advises/informs others in an appropriate manner. 

  • Reports/records information legibly and appropriately. 

  • Performs daily operational task as directed by Pulmonary Rehabilitation Coordinator with minimal supervision. 

  • Communicates changes to ITP and any concerns to Pulmonary Rehabilitation Coordinator as needed. 

  • Attends educational courses/seminars related to Pulmonary Rehabilitation to stay up to date on the latest practices. 

Qualifications

Education/formal training/licensure/certification/experience: 

  • Completion of accredited Respiratory Care Program required 

  • Current NC Respiratory care Board licensure required 

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care, or completion within one year in position.  

  • ACLS certification required (or completion within one year in position.)  

  • Successful completion of hospital–wide, departmental specific orientation, and annual competencies.  

  • Previous Pulmonary Rehabilitation program experience preferred 

  • Active license in other multidisciplinary position
